I thought the unstated theme of the evening would be love and $, cause that's what's been on my mind, but shows what I know. Instead it was cigarette smoke, crowds, and losing my voice from shouting over the ambient buzz. yes, yet another packed evening at the otheroom. I guess nobody in the west village goes on summer vacation. At least we got to stay in the back room until 8 before being kicked out by another party-loving group.
who was there
amita, bj, chris k, david s, deborah b, the other deborah b, diego, jackie,
jesse, joanna, jonathan the lurker, jose, kim m, mike k, otto, rimone, susan,
trinity
topics
probably much more than this was discussed, but here's what I remember:
craig's list personals, what's happening in SF, dead dot-com auctions, flash
authoring, my new palm m100 (deborah graciously allowed me to beam her my business
card), how much geekier I've become since being laid off, acting classes, permanent
vacation, Japan, how & why the FBI once broke down Jonathan's door, hair color
(natural and otherwise), opening up, London, our brilliant careers, a toast
to the newly laid off (jackie), mutual friends.
oh, and otto wanted me to note that he and bj don't like the new photos on display
at the otheroom. apparently they preferred the air safety paintings. it's so
dark, though, I don't know how they could tell.

shecky's guide
says: This sister
bar to the Room & Another Room is definitely the cream of the 3
bar crop. Hosting a selection of 40+ beers at any given time and 10+
wines, the Otheroom is one of the best bets in this beautiful West
Village neighborhood. The crowd is young, good looking, friendly,
straight, and not full of guys just looking to score (a nice change
of pace for any bar). The modern décor and friendly bartenders
make this small gem a great retreat for a date or just a comfortable
spot to hang out with a small group of friends.
