a party for the unemployed and underemployed key points: no advice no bullshit cheap drinks NOTE "ubiquitous platforms" is taking a little break for the next two weeks and will be back, bigger and better than ever, on Thursday July 19--same bat time, same bat station. |
|
topics discussed: MS ruling/MS ranting, Paula Poundstone, coprophilia, dog walking, creating your own job description, Coney Island, the Mermaid Parade, evan's beautiful illustration, whether I was personally acquainted with whoever made my t-shirt, what we're doing on our summer vacations ... sorry but the rest of it is lost in a fog of exhaustion.
comment: I see we've achieved gender parity at last.
I hear that afterward a bunch of people went to BJ's house for dinner. I suspect a community may have been born.
on the way home, Alice dragged me to a party at the resurrected Pseudo space. It looked exactly the way it used to, except different people were there and they were all talking on their phones. We walked back to where Josh's bedroom used to be, and peeked in the doorway. Behind me I heard a tan, silver-haired investor-type say "this is where he used to sleep. I actually had some meetings with him back here." Alice said "this is where the people who still have jobs are." I asked how she could tell and she replied "because they're sitting in front of computers doing work." We drifted back out to the front, past the cell-phone brigade and the guy in the shepperd fairey t-shirt ("obey") which still had creases in the sleeves, as though he had taken it out of the package just moments before putting it on. I decided it was time to go home.
fyi: we're going on summer hiatus for two weeks. the next "ubiquitous platforms" is on July 19!

says: This sister bar to
the Room & Another Room is definitely the cream of the 3 bar
crop. Hosting a selection of 40+ beers at any given time and 10+
wines, the Otheroom is one of the best bets in this beautiful West
Village neighborhood. The crowd is young, good looking, friendly,
straight, and not full of guys just looking to score (a nice change
of pace for any bar). The modern décor and friendly bartenders
make this small gem a great retreat for a date or just a comfortable
spot to hang out with a small group of friends.
